Furikomi Money Transfer Service

A very convenient service for sending regular remittances to the same recipient. If you have a bank account with Mizuho Bank, Mitsui Sumitomo Bank, Resona Bank, or Citibank and transfer money from these banks, the handling charge will be lower than most other methods.
Simply register for “Furikomi Money Transfer Service” then, each time you wish to send money to the same recipient, just deposit the money into your SBI Remit bank account and your money will be sent automatically, without the need to register the recipient again. You will also receive email notifications after each remittance.

How It Works

1. First Step

Register a recipient on the SBI Remit Website and select “Furikomi Money Transfer Service”

2. Deposit Remittance

Deposit funds into the SBI Remit bank account individually allocated to you for each registered recipient.

Note on Remittance Requests

  • Please make remittance requests under your own name. If the name of the person listed on the request form is not on the member customer list, there may be delay in the deposit into your SBI Remit Account, or in some cases, remittance may not be possible.
If the name of the account holder's name and the depositor's name does not match, we may refund the deposit to the customer. Please note that in this case, the prescribed refund fee of the company will be charged to the customer.
  • SBI Remit checks transfers to bank accounts every 30 to 60 minutes during business hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., on weekdays. Remittances made outside of normal business days and hours cannot be confirmed until 9 a.m. on the next business day.
  • Generally, the maximum cash transfer amount from bank ATMs is set at 100,000 yen (cash to account). If you wish to make a remittance exceeding 100,000 yen, please transfer directly from your bank account (account to account).
(Some ATMs are not equipped to handle cash transfers. Contact your bank for more information)
  • Please note that the bank transfer chage is paid for by the customer.
  • When you deposit your remittance, deposit the amount including the remittance fee and deposit charge. The lowest possible deposit amount is 881 yen.
  • For consecutive remittances of the same amount to the same receiver, remitting time might be delayed to prevent errors to occur. For urgent remittances, send a different amount to the same receiver.

How to reduce bank transfer charges

  • Because transfers within the same financial institutions are provided at low cost or free of charge, transferring funds from your bank account to the SBI Remit account within your bank is recommended.
  • Generally speaking, the transfer fee for ATM transactions is lower than the over-the-counter service.
  • While fees may vary according to the financial institution, generally speaking, online banking service fees are the lowest.
  • Some Internet-only banks, such as Sumishin SBI Net Bank, offer transfers to other banks at no charge.

3. After a fund is deposited, SBI Remit will begin the remittance procedure and notify you via email once the transaction is completed

Fees will be taken from the deposit and a remittance will be carried out in sender´s choice of currency.
You will receive a detailed statement (fee, exchange rate, reference number etc) on each transaction by email.

4. Give the recipient the reference number

It is essential that you give the reference number to the recipient so they can receive the funds.

5. The recipient receives the payment from MoneyGram

Find a convenient local MoneyGram location.
