Warning on Requesting Refunds with Fraudulent Receipts

Recently, a customer using our Remit Card remittance service contacted us claiming that they inserted cash into a Japan Post Bank ATM but it was not remitted, and included a copy of the ATM receipt. We asked Japan Post Bank, which operates Japan Post Bank ATMs, and other affiliated financial institutions to investigate, and it was found that there was no record of the customer inserting cash into a Japan Post Bank ATM and that the ATM receipt was fraudulent. In Japan, persons committing such acts or similar acts can be charged with crimes such as “counterfeiting of private documents,” “fraud,” or “obstruction of business,” so be careful not to be involved in such acts. If such acts are discovered, SBI Remit will take appropriate legal measures.
