Starting from April 1, 2020, two types of personal ID will be required when applying for SBI Remit membership by postal mail.
From April 1, 2020, in accordance with a revision to the “Act on Prevention of transfer of Criminal Proceeds” in cases where applications are made via postal mail and the identity of applicant is not directly confirmed by any SBI Remit agent/assigned personnel, requirements surrounding the personal ID to be attached with the application have been made more strict. Two types of personal ID showing the applicant’s name, date of birth, and current address must be submitted. Going forward, applicants who wish to register for membership via postal mail without meeting any SBI Remit personnel during membership will be required to send two personal ID types to be found below.
Please submit two identification documents among the lists stated below showing the applicant’s name, date of birth, and current address. For foreign nationals (non-Japanese nationals) please submit a copy of your residence card together with another type of ID among the lists below.
Types of Personal ID to be submitted:
- ・Residence Card (a must for non-Japanese nationals, plus 1 ID below)
- ・Special permanent residence certificate
- ・Driver’s License (front and back copy)
- ・Health Insurance Card (copy of side displaying name, date of birth, and current address)
- ・Individual Number (“My Number”) card (front copy ONLY, please DO NOT send back copy; notification sheet is NOT accepted)
- ・Copy of residence certificate (juminhyo), certificate of information specified in the residence certificate (original copy issued within the past three (3) months, not displaying the “My Number” info)
For applicants who can only provide one (1) type of personal ID from the above lists, you will need to supply supporting documents like stamped receipts with your name and your current address.
Supporting documents could be as follows:
- ・National/regional tax receipts, certificate of tax payment, social insurance premium receipts
- ・Utility bills/payment receipts (issued within the past three (3) months with receipt stamp and indicating “receipt”) Payment of receipts done through bank deposit are NOT accepted.
