Customers can use a UnionPay debit card issued by any of the banks listed above. This card is issued within China to Chinese citizens (it is 15-19 digits long and starts with the number 62).

MoneyExpress is a cross-border remittance service that has been launched in 45 countries and regions including the US, Japan, Singapore, Australia, the UK, Russia.20 cooperating institutions are included.

Through these institutions’ offline outlets, official websites, and mobile APP, customers outside Mainland China can easily make cross-border remittance to UnionPay cards issued by 70 banks in China, including ICBC, BOC, Bank of Communications, and Hua Xia Bank.

Considerations when sending money in Chinese yuan (CNY/RMB)

  • The following remittance restrictions apply:
    Maximum amount of remittance: USD 3,000 equivalent per single remittance.
    Maximum amount of 1 day remittance: USD 10,000 equivalent.
    Maximum amount of 1 year remittace: USD 50,000 equivalent.
    A Receiver can receive 5 Remittance transactions at most in one day.
    A Receiver can receive 20 Remittance transactions at most in one month.
  • The maximum amount of remittances to China (equivalent to 3,000 USD) is denominated in dollars, but UnionPay determines the excess of the upper limit by converting to RMB.
    Therefore, depending on the level of the exchange rate on the UnionPay side, there may be an error exceeding the upper limit. ( In addition, if a remittance error occurs due to exceeding the maximum amount, re-remittance will be made after the next business day in principle.)
    In order to reduce the possibility of an error exceeding the upper limit, please send the maximum amount with less money than the amount obtained by converting the dollar yen rate.
  • Customers should note that depending on the circumstances of their usage, restrictions may be imposed even if it is within the scope of restrictions listed above.
  • Balance enquiries depend on the contract between the recipient and the bank that issued the UnionPay Card, but they can be made via telephone banking, an ATM or on-line banking. Note that any costs incurred from balance enquiries are payable by the recipient.
  • Please be advised that remittance requests cannot be cancelled unless an error occurs.
  • Funds remitted between 10 pm and 7 am will be credited to the recipient’s UnionPay Card account after 7 am. Note that all times refer to the local time in China.
  • If you experience a major delay in funds being credited to the account, contact our Customer Support Center. We will make enquiries with UnionPay to confirm the situation and resolve any issues. Be advised that obtaining a response from UnionPay may require a few days to one week.
  • Be sure to provide accurate bank account details(bank name, name of recipient and account number).
    If the beneficiary’s account information is incorrect/inaccurate, In worst cases, the remittance may be sent to a third party’s account. Thus, please check the beneficiary’s account number carefully.

SBI Remit has rolled out its cash pick-up service through MoneyGram’s existing network.

 

■Receiving Funds via Bank

①Receive an 8-digited-reference number (RN) by email or SMS

②Inform the recipient of the number (RN)

③Recipients can pick up the funds at MoneyGram’s affiliate offices by presenting the reference number (RN) and ID.

* Funds can also be received via a bank account selected from online bank/smart phone apps.

  • Recipients do not need to designate a bank account to receive funds.
    Please be noted that roles of partner banks/ALIPAY may apply to receive your funds.
  • The following remittance restrictions apply:
    Maximum number of single remittances: 2 per week; 4 over a 30-day period.
    Maximum amount of remittance: USD 5,000 equivalent per single remittance.
    Maximum amount of remittance via ALIPAY(支付宝APP) : USD 1,000 equivalent per single remittance
    Maximum number of recipients: 4 recipients over a 30-day period.
    3 countries over a 30 day period.
  • Customers should note that depending on the circumstances of their usage, restrictions may be imposed even if it is within the scope of restrictions listed above.
  • Pursuant to the Payment Services Act, the Foreign Exchange Act and the Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds, we may need to check the details of your transactions.
